School Uniform Policy

WALDEGRAVE SCHOOL

UNIFORM 2012 / 2013

The purpose of our uniform is to ensure that all students are suitably dressed for a working environment and that they feel a sense of belonging to the school community. On non uniform days e.g. mufti days and outings students are expected to dress appropriately. Students are expected to travel to and from school in correct uniform.

Optional item
Trousers	-	Tailored plain black trousers. Fashion trousers, tight fitting trousers and stretch fabric are not part of the uniform.

Other items for all Years
Shoes	-	Plain, black leather (or leather look, not suede) with heels no more than 5cm. Sneakers, boots and canvas shoes are not permitted.
Socks	-	White or black, ankle or knee length (not trainer socks).
Tights	-	Plain black opaque (not leggings)
Scarf/Hijab	-	Plain black, close weave without decoration (worn for religious reasons) must be tucked into PE kit for games and removed for gymnastics. The niqab should not be worn in school.
Jewellery*	-	Wrist watch and no more than two small, plain stud earrings. A plain necklace may be worn but must be out of sight and removed for PE and games. Nose studs, tongue studs or any facial piercings are not allowed. Plugs or stretchers not permitted.
Hair	-	Should not be worn in extreme styles or colours. Hair bands should be subtle.
Make-up*	-	Make-up or coloured nail varnish should not be worn.
Technology/other	-	MP3 players, mobile phones, Ipods etc must not be seen in school, they must be switched off and kept in lockers throughout the school day. Aerosols are banned in school.
* Please note that items will be confiscated and returned on Friday after school.

PE Kit
Polo shirt		-	royal blue with black panelling and white piping, emblazoned with school logo
Shorts (or)		-	black shorts with blue panelling and white piping.
Skort		-	black skort with blue panelling and white piping
Socks		-	house colours, or white socks
Footwear		-	as advised by PE staff according to season and activity
Tracksuit bottoms		-	KS3 plain black
Hooded top		-	Royal blue with black panelling and white piping, emblazoned with school logo

Optional PE Items
Base layer & base leggings				-	black with school logo (for warmth)
