RIVERVIEW INFANT SCHOOL
We strongly encourage the wearing of school uniform as this gives children a sense of belonging to our school team, keeps them looking smart and avoids competition over clothing for most of the school year.
School uniform is worn by every child in the school, except when other clothes have been requested by letter, for fund raising or special days.
We ask parents to ensure that children wear sensible school shoes, do not wear nail varnish, tattoos or jewellery (other than studs for pierced ears), and wear sensible hair styles. If children wear boots to school in cold or wet weather, they need to change into normal school shoes for indoors.
Our school colours are grey and green. Green sweatshirts and white polo tops are available with the school badge from Sewing Shop, Echo Square, Gravesend or www.mapac.co.uk, however children do not have to have these: most supermarkets offer plain versions in the correct colour.
Grey skirt or pinafore dress or grey school trousers
Green jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt, and white blouse (optional tie), or polo shirt
Sensible school shoes, not trainers or boots
Summer - green and white checked dress may be worn but the main uniform detailed above may be worn throughout the year.
School shoes or sensible sandals with filled-in toe, not jellies or flip-flops
Socks or tights must be worn
Grey Trousers or shorts
Green jumper/sweatshirt and white cotton shirt or polo shirt.
School shoes, not trainers. Sandals with filled-in toe may be worn in Summer but socks must be worn.
ALL CHILDREN will need a Riverview Infant School Book Bag to carry books and letters between home and school. These are available from the school office.
PE KIT AND OTHER ESSENTIALS:
Riverview sun hats and PE bags, in our uniform green are also available from the school office.
Each child will need a sun hat in hot weather, as our playground currently offers little shade.
They will also need a PE bag but these can be any colour. We stock PE bags in the School Office.
Similarly, PE kit of shorts and T shirt may be any colour, but not a football strip.
Girls may wear leotards.
Each child needs black slip-on plimsolls all year round and outdoor PE kit – any colour track suit (or sweatshirt with different colour bottoms) and trainers for winter months only. (These are not required for children in Foundation Stage) .
NO jewellery should be worn to school except small studs if a child has pierced ears. These must not be worn during dance or PE lessons, again for safety. Unfortunately children have to be excluded from their PE lessons if earrings cannot be removed, for their own safety. Therefore we recommend that the start of the Summer holiday period is the best time to get children’s ears pierced without affecting their PE entitlement.
Each child needs a waterproof painting apron or old adult-sized shirt to protect uniform for art activities. (These are not required for children in Foundation Stage) .
Parents are requested to ensure that all property brought to school is marked clearly with your child’s name e.g. plimsolls, wellingtons, jumpers, skipping ropes, lunch boxes, outdoor coats, hats, gloves and outdoor shoes, as well as uniform items, so that we can reunite them with any lost belongings as quickly as possible.
Please order by 31st July to avoid disappointment
