Hillside is dedicated to the highest standards of attainment and progress through partnership with parents/carers. Viewing every child as a gift to be respected and valued, we are committed to the development of the whole child: social, emotional, physical, moral, intellectual and spiritual.
We aim for excellence in all we do. We believe who the children are, and who they become, is just as important as what they achieve or attain. To that end, we seek to develop character so the children are able to learn successfully. We are committed to teaching the children determination and effort in order to achieve, and believe supporting the children in building and maintaining healthy relationships is vital to life.
Our school has many excellent qualities which make it a favourable choice. Our extensive facilities include a vibrant Reading Zone, a modern ICT Suite and i-Zone, a creative Art Studio, a Forest School, gardening areas and much more. We encourage learning outside the classroom using our octagonal gazebo and attractive, green environment and we offer an excellent after-school club.
We believe our Thematic Curriculum encourages our children to learn for themselves, promoting investigation, curiosity and problem solving. We are always searching for new ways to enhance learning through new technology & collaboration with others and believe the Expressive Arts are key to helping children learn effectively.
We believe that a school uniform is important:
We ask that all children wear the uniform and encourage them to maintain a good standard of clean and tidy dress in school.
The uniform is designed to be practical, maintainable and good value for money.
Hair accessories such as slides, ribbons bobbles, etc, should be fairly simple and if possible in school colours.
Parents are asked to ensure that all items are labelled clearly with their child’s name.
For safety reasons we ask that the children do not wear jewellery in school.
For health reasons it is important that children are properly dressed for physical activity. PE kit should be kept in a named drawstring bag.
