School uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone. At High View we believe that school uniform is important for the following reasons:
The wearing of school uniform is a key school rule and our uniform code is strongly enforced. On entering school parents and pupils sign the Home School Agreement which emphasizes this aspect of the school’s expectations.
Non-school uniform items are not acceptable.
Staff at the school will speak to children who are not wearing the correct uniform. Parents will be written to if the uniform rules are not adhered to.

In writing our school uniform code we have worked to ensure that our school uniform is both inexpensive, that it is easy to find retailers who sell appropriate items and above all that it is practical.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families strongly encourages all schools to have a uniform as it can instill pride; support positive behaviour and discipline; encourage identity with, and support for, school ethos; ensure pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome; protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way; and nurture cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of pupils. Above all, many schools believe that school uniform supports effective teaching and learning.
Although we do not specify a particular colour or style of coat, the head teacher, on behalf of the Governors, reserves the right to prohibit the wearing of coats (or any other item of clothing) carrying unsuitable logos or illustrations.
Please Note:
No jewellery may be worn, this includes earrings at any time (the exception to this is plain studs or sleepers which can be worn providing the child can take them out as needed).
Extreme hairstyles are strongly discouraged
Any hair which reaches the shoulder must be tied back with scrunchies and hair bands in school colours maroon, grey or black.
Make up should not be worn in school including nail varnish.
